Truck Driver Greater Chicago Food Depository, established in 1979, is a nonprofit distribution center whose primary mission is providing food to hungry people while striving to end hunger in our community. In support of the mission, the Food Depository provides donated and purchased food to agencies such as soup kitchens, shelters, and pantries. Additionally, in striving to end hunger, the Food Depository reaches its clients through programs and initiatives including Chicago's Community Kitchens, Kids Cafes, and Pantry University. The Food Depository is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic individual to operates a commercial motor vehicle to pickup and deliver products donated to GCFD. Responsibilities include: ● Operate a commercial motor vehicle to complete daily pickups and deliveries of products in an efficient, timely, and safe manner. ● Prepare and maintain accurate and complete records of all pickup and delivery transactions, reporting any discrepancies to the Dispatcher. ● Operate manual and electric pallet jacks and forklift equipment to load and off-load freight/products. ● Evaluate the suitability of donated products for distribution to GCFD member agencies. Communicate information regarding donation volume, quality or changes in truck route, and unnecessary waiting times to the dispatcher. ● Maintain cleanliness of assigned motor vehicles; ensure that all pre-trip vehicle maintenance and safety checklists are completed daily. ● Maintain, and is accountable for, all assigned GCFD equipment, such as, radios, load bars, freezer blankets, roll-off racks, cambros, etc.
