This position serves as lead administrator for the department.  Manages department database and leads key department programs. Plans, coordinates, and executes volunteer program activities and acts as a liaison between the Food Depository and volunteers.  Represents the Food Depository in all volunteer activities.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate execution of youth programming sessions including but not limited to scheduling youth groups, conducting sessions, developing feedback surveys and data analysis.
  • Reconcile department database. Includes building data reports, end of the month reporting and volunteer tracking.
  • Closely collaborates with Development Services to develop and build effective data records.
  • Oversees the recruitment and communication of Hunger Walk volunteers.
  • Maintain and externally publish the volunteer calendar to ensure volunteer sessions and projects are scheduled appropriately. Collaborate with all appropriate stakeholders.
  • Provide up-to-date information on the Food Depository web site including Agency and Holiday volunteer needs, as well as current Food Depository volunteer needs and opportunities via internal postings and volunteer search websites.
  • Act as lead assist with volunteer repack sessions. This includes volunteer room set-up, volunteer check-in, vetting volunteer requests, supporting coordinator with wrap up.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of volunteers, volunteer hours, projects and interests.

 Secondary Functions:

  • Recruit, schedule, confirm, orient and retain volunteers, as well as develop and maintain positive volunteer relationships.
  • Act as secondary-management of warehouse staff for night and weekend volunteer sessions.
  • Ability to execute all volunteer programs including but not limited to: onsite food packing sessions, food rescue initiatives, corn and squash harvest, mobile distributions, food drives, and special events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 2+ years in human services/donor development or volunteer coordinator experience.
  • 2+ years project management experience.
  • Excellent public speaking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse communities.
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Familiarity with database software; CiviCore and Raiser’s Edge a plus.
  • Ability to work with multiple groups and prioritize projects.
  • Involvement in community activities as active member or affiliation.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to ten (10) pounds.
  • Able to handle food product including but not limited to produce, bread, pasta, beans, rice and milk.
  • Personal transportation needed. Must be able to drive personal vehicle and maintain valid license and insurance for local area travel.
  • Schedule requires working a varied schedule including rotating evening and weekends. Some off-site special events are required periodically.
