    The Facility Worker will performs tasks specific to the maintenance and facility needs of the organization including: waste management, grounds keeping, and technical maintenance upkeep.

    • Performs preventative maintenance actions, troubleshoots, and conducts minor repairs on refrigeration, Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning (HVAC), and freezer systems.
    • Records maintenance actions on work orders.
    • Performs preventative maintenance actions, troubleshoots, and repairs material handling equipment; records maintenance actions on work orders.
    • Maintains, troubleshoots, and conducts minor repairs on all building equipment as necessary; records maintenance actions on work orders.
    • Performs general carpentry, masonry, plumbing, & electrical system repairs and construction tasks.
    • Assists outside contractors in the performance of maintenance tasks.

    Waste Management


    • Performs general waste management and cleanup duties including:
      • Cleaning/washing of all two wheel carts and plastic totes/containers on a daily basis.
      • Cleanup and maintenance of waste management floor on a daily basis. 
      • General warehouse cleanup and housekeeping.
      • Move produce and general warehouse waste to disposal area for final disposal.
      • Assist the general waste hauler in loading of open-top container or truck.
      • Operate forklift trucks and pallet moving equipment.
    • Sort, stack and load used pallets (brown’s, blues, totes) and waste cardboard (including waste paper and plastic) into trailer or warehouse storage areas.
    • Maintain outside (west side by maintenance shop) of the facility by assisting with cleanup around the compactor, cardboard and pallet trailer areas.
    • Operate, clean and maintain both cardboard bailers and trash.

    Grounds Keeping (Exterior)

    • Maintains outside areas of the facility, including:
      • General lawn maintenance and care (mowing and raking) and clean-up (weeds, rocks, etc.)
      • Trees, flowers and shrubbery plant care.
      • Perform daily checks of the entire exterior and remove all foreign materials/trash/debris from center of street to building. 
      • Assist with snow and ice removal, ensuring parking lots and sidewalks are clear.
    • Assist indoors with general facilities maintenance, such as minor plumbing, painting tasks, and HVAC filter changes.
    • Assist in preventive maintenance of facility lawn equipment and systems.
    • Performs general waste management and cleanup duties.



    • High school diploma/GED equivalent
    • Physically capable of lifting fifty pounds and standing six to eight hours
    • Knowledge of facilities maintenance practices and tools
    • Ability to work in elevated and confined freezer/refrigerator environments, including times of inclement weather i.e. hot, cold, or snow
    • Excellent communication skills


    • Vocational technical training from accredited schools in areas of electrical repair, heating ventilating, air conditioning and lift truck repairs
    • Technical experience to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and equipment
    • Knowledge of hand power tools, Volt Ohm Metering (VOM) systems, electronic measuring systems
    • Ability to operate electric material handling equipment is a plus
    • Computer literate
