  • Overview

    Top rated Food Bank warehouse environment - with efficiency and food safety priority - this function operates in warehouse performing any of the following:  order picking, checking, shipping/receiving, stocking, salvage sorting, production - involves electric pallet jack and fork-lift operations. Requires flexibility to all areas of assignment.  Exposure to dry & temperature controlled (cooler/freezer) environments.  May include evening & week end hours.


    Key functions including, not limited to:

    • Operating of forklift, pallet jacks (manual and electric)
    • Off-load/load product upwards of 50 pounds from/to dry/refrigerated/freezer areas
    • Ensure accuracy in loads, whether in-coming or out-going
    • Check loads for infestations, damages, and code dates; applying food safety standards
    • Follow organizational procedures for warehouse and food safety, in keeping with all Food Depository policies
    • This position might entail interaction with volunteers during repack sessions and sorting salvage products from food drives/donations 


    • High school diploma/GED equivalent
    • Valid driver’s license preferred (with current vehicle insurance)
    • Experience operating material handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks
    • Basic mathematical skills
    • Ability to take direction and process paperwork
    • Physically fit, high energy and capable of lifting fifty pounds and standing six to eight hours
    • Capable of adapting to different assignments in the warehouse:  dry, refrigerated, frozen
    • Ability to manually load and unload freight from vehicles
    • May include evening and weekend hours, depending on events
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Able to work as part of a team
