    The Direct Response and Annual Fund Manager is responsible for managing multiple projects and complex processes related to securing individual gifts. This position drives all direct response mail and digital solicitation efforts, including managing vendors and coordinating productive collaboration among GCFD’s Individual Giving Team and other departmental teams. The Direct Response and Annual Fund Manager also supports the Director of Annual Giving in developing and implementing an overall annual giving strategy to build a broad and diverse base of current 55,000+ donors, with a special focus on expanding the annual fund program while managing a revenue goal of 7 million out of a 20 million dollar individual revenue goal.

     

    Responsibilities

    Manage the direct response mail and digital solicitation program to build a broad base of support from individual donors through the acquisition, cultivation, and renewal of prospects. 

     

    • Oversee the planning, strategy, implementation, analysis and evaluation of all direct response campaigns, including acquisition and renewal campaigns, donor acknowledgements, and web-based efforts. 
    • Work with the Communications/Marketing team, Donor Services team and external vendor(s) to coordinate all solicitations.
    • Serve as the primary contact with direct response vendor(s).
    • Manage new donor welcome process and respond to donor inquiries.
    • Oversee creation of reports to analyze and evaluate direct response efforts.

     
    Support Director of Annual Giving in growing and managing annual fund program for donors $1,000 to $9,999 in conjunction with other development team members.

    • Develop program to support mid-level donors, including managing a portfolio of approximately 50-75 donors.
    • Drive strategies to obtain and act upon donor input, such as giving and contact preferences; manage annual donor survey.
    • Support Director of Annual Giving in writing proposals and stewardship reports to mid-level donors as needed.
    • Facilitate tours at GCFD/offsite to all donor levels as needed.

     
    Collaborate with Cultivation/Stewardship Manager and Corporate/Foundation Outreach (CFO) team members to plan and execute corporate Workplace/Employee giving program of donors at all levels with the CFO team.

    • Collaborate on the development of campaign materials.
    • Establish and maintain prospect list and track progress.
    • Coordinate with Cultivation and Stewardship Manager on donor cultivation and stewardship activities.

     
    Support the Vice President of Development, Director of Individual Giving and other members of the team in identification and cultivation of donors at all levels.  Conduct basic prospect research on donors, as needed, to help qualify them for portfolio assignment.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree and five years of fundraising experience required, including at least three years of experience managing direct response and annual fund development efforts. Experience with high volume, complex direct response fundraising a plus.  
    • Demonstrated success in managing multiple, complex projects simultaneously, including driving processes from planning and implementation to analysis and follow-up. 
    •  Experience creating and monitoring project-specific budgets.
    • Advanced computer skills with proficiency in Raiser’s Edge, Convio, and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Experience writing/editing direct mail and digital appeals and donor communications.
    • Previous experience managing external vendors including leading virtual meetings and coordinating internal approval processes.
    • Capacity to work remotely as needed. 
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative working environment.
    • Outstanding attention to detail and drive to anticipate and pursue next steps within each stage of a project.
      Excellent time management and analytical thinking skills.
    • Ability to handle diverse, simultaneous tasks, meet deadlines, and take responsibility for follow-through.
