  • Overview

    Manage the marketing and logistics of food drives (traditional and virtual) for the Greater Chicago Food Depository, with established annual goals for monetary donations. This individual will collaborate with multiple departments across the organization to ensure the success of food drives. This role drives an ongoing year-round marketing and awareness effort to help the Food Depository build ongoing relationships with food drive partners, and to encourage a shift from non-perishable food donations to online/digital giving. The most important time of year for this role is the October through February, during our 1 City 1 Food Drive campaign, where we call on every Chicagoan to join us in the fight against hunger. During the critical holiday season, this individual will be located with the Operations team.


    This role is responsible for the marketing and account management for our food drive program. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:


    • Establish roadmap of continued growth in digital channel (Virtual Food Drives)
    • Website management of myfooddrive.org
    • Updates to and management of transactional and marketing emails to Virtual Food Drive donors and partners
    • Cultivate, influence and manage 600+ annual corporate and partner peer-to-peer campaigns to encourage social responsibility and employee engagement initiatives for our partners
    • Maintain and grow the 1 City, 1 Food Drive holiday campaign through increased shift from nonperishable food donations to online giving
    • Stewardship and relationship management of Food Drive partners interested in volunteering
    • Accountability and ownership for revenue and budget development of Food Drives
    • Transition current traditional Food Drive partners to Virtual Food Drives wherever possible
    • Successfully complete media training; serve as media spokesperson for the Food Depository including television, radio and print
    • Provide customer service to partners and external Food Drive coordinators

                 Answer all questions regarding food drives/overall hunger issues in Cook County

                 Engage with coordinators to promote the cause and other facets of the organization

    • Attend on-site campaign launches - providing logistics, management and materials
    • Management of seasonal employee(s)
    • Work closely with Operations and Transportation teams to manage food intake
    • Manage and track all donations and supplies
    • Timely letters and e-mails to participants and respond quickly to phone calls/emails
    • Monthly financial and revenue reporting
    • Accept and process food donations 



    • Working knowledge of digital marketing best practices, email marketing and website content strategy

    • Demonstrated project management experience with attention to detail and follow-up
    • Strategic relationship building capabilities
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills
    • Enthusiastic individual who demonstrates initiative and thrives on ability to juggle multiple priorities
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products
    • Valid Illinois driver’s license and access to a car
    • Four-year college degree preferred
