  • Overview

    The brand specialist plays a significant role in the daily stewardship and management of the Greater Chicago Food Depository’s brand while also advancing marketing opportunities and strategies. This role ensures that the Food Depository’s brand identity remains strong while facilitating a number of projects and tasks to raise awareness of the Food Depository and encourage action among key audiences. The brand specialist reports to the Senior Director of Marketing & Communications and will work closely with the Chief Marketing Officer on the organization’s biggest marketing projects, including branding, advertising and creative partnerships.


    • Ensure correct and consistent use of the Greater Chicago Food Depository brand in all marketing efforts, including approved applications by Food Depository departments and external partners.
    • Support the planning and facilitation of marketing projects, including annual advertising campaigns and the identification/creation of new opportunities.
    • Working with internal and external resources, guide the production of all marketing materials for the Food Depository, including materials to support special events, programs, advocacy, volunteer services and fund development.
    • Ensure consistent and effective branding throughout the Food Depository facility and vehicle fleet.
    • Facilitate branding opportunities with the Food Depository’s local network of partner agencies and programs.
    • Support the design, creation and marketing of Food Depository branded apparel to inspire key stakeholders and raise awareness of the brand.
    • Manage creative projects with graphic design vendors.
    • Manage all large print projects for the organization.
    • As needed, assist the Marketing and Volunteer Engagement Department with website updates, writing, event staffing and other projects.


    • Four-year college degree in marketing, communications or a related field.
    • 2+ years experience managing brand and marketing projects for a nonprofit organization, business or institution.
    • Working knowledge of branding and marketing best practices.
    • Experience managing brand and design projects for a nonprofit organization, business or institution.
    • The ability to multi-task and manage several large projects at once.
    • Passion for our mission and the people we serve.
    • A collaborative spirit and enthusiasm for working with diverse groups of people.
    • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite software, including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
    • Valid Illinois driver’s license and access to a car.
