  • Overview

    Coordinates work flow of the Food Depository’s SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program- formerly known as the Food Stamp Program) Outreach and Medical Benefit Program activities, under the guidance of the Benefit Outreach Manager. Provides direct assistance to families and individuals to enroll in SNAP and Medical Benefits. Provides supervisory support to off-site Benefit Outreach staff.


    • Ensure GCFD’s Benefit Outreach program reaches as many individuals in need of assistance as possible.
    • Develop in depth knowledge of SNAP and Medical Benefit policy and stay informed about all changes in policy and procedures.
    • Ensure all off-site Benefit Outreach work is properly tracked, monitored, and documented.
    • Provides support and guidance to off-site Benefit Outreach staff in order to ensure the quality and consistency of benefit applications and related case support for clients is maintained.
    • Provide application assistance in-person and over the phone.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement to ensure the team operates at the highest productivity
    • Provide trainings on SNAP and Medical Enrollment programs and process to staff and community partners.
    • Represent the Food Depository at meetings, as assigned by Benefits Outreach Manager
    • Build and sustain relationships with community and governmental partners in support of GCFD’s efforts to ensure effective collaboration of Benefit Outreach activities.
    • Support Benefit Outreach Manager in all aspects of integrating Benefit Outreach into the overall Community Team goals.
    • Other responsibilities as assigned.


    • Bachelor's degree
    • 2+ years relevant experience required.
    • Ability to coordinate workflow and delegate priorities.
    • Experience with public benefit programs and their respective application processes is preferred.
    • Experience providing direct service to individuals and families.
    • Strong interpersonal, project management and organizational skills.
    • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
    • Proficient in MS Office- Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook.
    • Personal transportation and valid license and insurance.



    • Normal office environment.
    • Interacts with GCFD staff, volunteers, partners, member agencies and general public.
    • Local travel to communities.
